How can we help?

Here you will find answers to some frequently asked questions about our products and our company at a glance.

Yarns from our standard range are always in stock or can be procured at short notice. Yarns from our special assortment are in stock to a limited extent, but can be procured for production with a delivery time of approx. 1 - 3 months. Yarns not listed here can be procured from an individual minimum quantity.

The fineness of the yarns

As a rule, a yarn consists of single fibers, which are held together by means of twisting, or of a number of single filaments. The fiber and filament can have different cross-sectional shapes. The number of fibers per length of yarn may vary. Finally, these variations and yarn manufacturing conditions mean that the yarn cross-section is also not a constant quantity. Therefore, it is difficult to accurately measure the physical dimensions of a yarn to derive a measure of fineness.

 In practice, a ratio between the mass and the length of a fiber, yarn or twine is used to express fineness. Two numbering systems for fineness are in use - the weight numbering system and the length numbering system.

The weight numbering system and its units

The weight numbering system, also called titration, was introduced in the 1950s and recommended for international use. Fineness is defined as mass per unit length. Accordingly, fineness indicates the number of units of mass contained in a specified unit of length. The fineness is commonly referred to as the titer.

The basic unit is the tex. It is defined as follows:

tex = g : 1000 m; symbol: Tt

Example: If a 1000 m long yarn weighs 20 g, then the yarn unit is 20 dtex.

tex is an internationally recognized SI unit. In practice, tex is preferred for specifying the fineness of staple fiber yarns and twisted yarns made from staple fiber yarns. For reasons of computational simplification and accuracy in numerical specification, some derived units have been allowed.

decitex = g : 10,000 m; symbol: dtex

This unit is mainly used for monofilaments, single filaments and multifilaments.

milliex = mg : 1000 m or g : 1000 km; symbol: mtex

kilotex = kg : 1000 m or g : m; symbol: ktex

Apart from these units derived directly from tex, the historically older International Seidentiter (denier) is still used. In the field of filaments, however, it is frequently or completely replaced by decitex.

denier = g : 9000 m; symbol: Td - or (den)

The Tex system for designating the length-related mass of textile products is described in DIN 60 905, Part 1.

Belt widths as well as web widths of our stretch goods require different machines. Depending on the product group, we have the following options...

  • ilira-stretch between 60 and 1200 mm
  • ilira-elastic between 20 and 120 mm
  • ilira-roll between 10 and 35 mm
  • ilira-tech between 4 and 115 mm
  • ilira-automotive between 4 and 115 mm

Please contact us in any case if we cannot cover your desired width with our standard belts. If there are possibilities, we will work out a solution together.

Minimum order value

From our standard delivery program we supply you with a minimum order value of € 200.00. - gladly also sorted consignments of goods.

Minimum order quantities

Depending on the width of the belt, the amount of work required to set up a loom increases. For this reason, belt production only makes sense from a minimum quantity for all parties. Assume approx. 5,000 m to 10,000 m for simple articles with fast running times on our machines. More extensive belts, heavy belts as well as special articles can be produced for you from 2,500 m.

The same applies to the piece range. Cuts and simple sewing work are possible from 100 pieces, as standard processes are used here. Extensive set-up times for ultrasonic & laser technology are only worthwhile for higher quantities. Likewise, extensive setups on sewing workstations with suitable feed tools.

In addition to our offers, you will usually receive simple hand samples as well as comparable articles in possibly different width, thickness and color from us free of charge. Extensive samples are charged at a flat rate - just contact us.

We deliver within...

  • 24 hours by express - orders received by 12 noon from available assortment
  • 48 hours from our extensive standard range for delivery locations in Germany
  • 96 hours for international shipping for delivery locations in Europe

For call-off orders, the delivery times that suit you are agreed with us. Within this time window we ensure a renewed supply via stocking. Special scenarios can of course be arranged with us.

Woven goods outside the standard assortment we can often realize within 6-8 weeks. Very rarely, 10 weeks have to be considered for specialties from our webbing production possibilities. However, we will discuss this with you as early as the quotation phase.

We can normally deliver ready-made products within 3 weeks. Special designs or components with additional fittings must always be agreed separately in the case of an order. International procurement markets always cause unplannable delays.

We process mostly yarns made of synthetic multifilament fibers. The thermoplastic properties of these yarns can only be influenced within a certain temperature range. After cooling down, the changed parameters remain in the belt. This process is comparable to ironing at home, only much more complex! We can influence many more parameters in the belt area.

In our product finishing department, we basically distinguish between two types of thermal product finishing:

  • Thermostabilizing
  • Thermofixing

In both process steps, we bring the belt into a thermal influence range by means of heat. The temperature required for the respective process depends on the raw material and the belt itself. In any case, the finishing temperature is lower than the melting and decomposition temperature of the material.

When heated, shrinkage occurs - we can control this material shrinkage by applying defined tension to the belt. The distinction between the two finishing processes is the duration of the set temperature and the force with which the belt is controlled.

  1. Thermostabilizing

In this process, a temperature is applied over the belt for a very short time, and the material begins to change slightly. This brief heating makes the belt surface smoother and softer. The rebound force of the belt becomes greater which is comparable to "ironing". Through holding forces we reduce tension differences within the belt construction. The belt becomes visually smoother, its tensile dynamic properties more uniform. However, due to the system design, no changes can be made to the belt's elongation values.

  1. Heat setting

Thermofixing is performed at temperatures similar to those used for thermostabilization. The temperature application time and the controlled cooling time are significantly longer in this process. The surface becomes even smoother and the recovery behavior is further improved.

Longer temperature exposure times are possible thanks to our large heat-setting system. With higher tensile forces, which can be precisely defined, we can influence the elongation behavior of the belt with this system.

  1. Shrinking

The belt can be shrunk to minimize post-shrinkage when heated and to allow higher elongations under load.

  1. Stretching

The belt can be stretched to achieve shorter elongations under load.

My [KiiPER] storage net is too small for the marks in the drilling template. Did I get a net that is too narrow?

No! The net comes "smaller" out of the package because it has to be stretched to the right length first. Here is an overview of the spans:

  • Net [S] must be stretched by approx. 3 - 5 cm.
  • Net [M] must be stretched by approx. 5 - 7 cm
  • Net [L] must be tensioned by approx. 9 - 11 cm
  • Net [XL] must be tensioned by approx. 12 - 14 cm

You can find more information about this in our gallery under [KiiPER]-FAQ.

 How can I remove my [KiiPER] without damaging it?

With a little skill you can make your [KiiPER] removable within 3 steps after mounting. To do this, work on the brackets as follows....

  • make 3 small cuts at each of the four hook positions on the inside of the bracket (from the mesh side)
  • break out the incisions from the inside to the outside
  • now you can "unlock" the cover of the mounted console with the help of a screwdriver
  • for a better understanding we have added a short instruction in our gallery in the subitem [KiiPER]-FAQ

Apart from this possibility, you cannot disassemble [KiiPER] without drilling out the covers. Our storage net cannot be removed without tools, making it theft-proof and suitable for public places.

What can I store with my [KiiPER]?

We intentionally left [KiiPER] open at the bottom. This allows you to stow more, or even "load through" completely. Once you experience a [KiiPER], you'll see the many benefits.

Does the mesh wear out?

It is not a rubber net - rubber wears out! We use a technical elastomer. This is much more durable. If you ever have a dent in the net because you had something in the net all year, you can use a normal hair dryer to remove the dent and make the net elastic again - but be careful not to heat it too much!

What [KiiPER] sizes are currently available?

The following sizes are currently available:

  • S - inner span approx. 20 cm
  • M - inner wingspan ca. 27 cm
  • L - inner wingspan ca. 35 cm
  • XL - inner wingspan ca. 45 cm

What do I get when I order a package?

 Included in delivery are...

  • 1x net with sewn-on net holders
  • 2x console for mounting the net
  • 2x cover for fixing the net on the console - can be disassembled only by destruction
  • 1x drilling template
  • 6x self-tapping screws 4,8x13
  • 6x wood screws 5x17

What different patterns can my storage net have?

The net is currently offered in lined and checkered versions.

Does [KiiPER] come in different colors?

In our current range of nets, besides the checkered & lined version in black, there is also the lined version in gray.

Do you have any installation ideas for me?

Of course! [KiiPER] can be mounted in every possible way. You can install both the consoles at the bottom and top (vertical mounting), fix them to the ceiling, fix them to the floor, or feel free to mount them at an angle. Look for free spaces - everywhere [KiiPER] can be used!

Can I mount [KiiPER] without drilling?

No! For mounting an original [KiiPER] net at least 4 drill holes are mandatory - 6 we recommend!

But: To avoid drilling holes in the wall / caravan etc., the net can be mounted on an intermediate element (e.g. wooden board or plastic plate). This is attached to the desired location using mounting foam / double-sided adhesive tape / Velcro / silicone, etc.

Can I also mount my storage net outside?

There is no reason not to. [KiiPER] is largely weatherproof and above all theft-proof. However, protect it from the sun as much as possible - this will increase its durability.

How long does a [KiiPER] last?

This question cannot be answered in a general way. The functional efficiency depends on the treatment. However, as long as [KiiPER] is not deliberately damaged, cut, etc., the net will not wear out. Protect [KiiPER] as well as all other plastics from direct sunlight, then [KiiPER] will last as long as other plastic products.
